Darkwood Crew is a constituted group of local residents who have a very clear aim of ‘helping Ferguslie flourish’ with a strong environmental ethos, focusing on 5 key areas
#FoodInsecurity #FuelPoverty #Isolation&Loneliness #MentalHealthPositivity #TheLocalEnvironment
Our work is underpinned by a belief that our local environment holds the key to addressing a number of historical social problems in the community including, but not limited to, health inequalities, long term unemployment, poor educational attainment, poor mental health, social exclusion & isolation.
'Think Global, Act Local' is the guiding principle of our various community development approaches ensuring community members are empowered to identify and implement effective solutions
We passionately believe that a greener more sustainable planet starts with greener more sustainable communities and that by raising awareness of the climate change emergency, engaging positively with our community and by looking after our local wildlife and environment we can make a real difference to both our community and the world
Hard work, perseverance and dedication from our volunteers and supporters have enabled us to purchase our very own group vehicle.
Give us a wave if you see us out and about !
To mark #VolunteersWeek2021 we will be highlighting the work of our #CovidCrew over the past year showcasing some of their amazing contributions to our community over on facebook
A huge thank you to our extended volunteer pool who dedicate themselves to making a difference in our local environment. No matter how, for who or indeed where in Ferguslie Park you volunteer, your contribution is highly valued & hugely appreciated and our community is a much better place for your dedication & commitment
June 2021
Darkwood Crew are delighted to announce the return of our #SocialIsolationBingoBus and we're kicking off in style as part of #TannyOnTour
The start of May saw us provide an afternoon of Picnic lunches, darts, arts & crafts, street chalk and bingo for residents of Tannahill, Darkwood & Bankfoot which was a (socially distanced) chance for the community to engage with us on important local and recovery issues as we emerge from our Covid Recovery Programme
May 2021
The 18th January has been identified at the most depressing day of the year and has been dubbed 'Blue Monday'. We are really pleased to support our partners at The Tannahill Centre in their Brew Monday campaign.
This important campaign aims to encourage us all to talk openly with each other about how we are feeling. #MentalHealthPositivity is perhaps more important than ever before. Remember a variety of help and support services are available to those who need it. #ItsOkToNotBeOk
January 2021
Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas and we would like to wish all of our friends, partners, followers, supporters and of course our wonderful volunteers a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year when it comes.
Thank you for all your support throughout this last, and perhaps most difficult of years.
December 2020
We are truly delighted to have won the #PathsForAll Community Group Award 2020. All credit to our wonderful volunteers who have helped Ferguslie flourish by regenerating the village green. As we have experienced during lock down with the alternative prom event and plastic free picnic the area has rightly become recognised as the valuable community asset that it is.
